Through education, reach a point to help others in the future

Vītolu fonds has been registered with the Company Register of the Republic of Latvia on April 4, 2002. With 27 December, 2004 board decision, the previous social fund was reorganized as a foundation. Foundation “Vītolu fonds” has been registered with the Company Register of the Republic of Latvia on 26 January, 2005.

Vilis Vītols

Born in Riga. In 1944, leaves Latvia with his family. Four years spent in Germany, most of them in Esslingen Latvian centre. Moves to Venezuela in 1948, where he acquires secondary education, and graduates Central University of Venezuela in 1956 in civil engineering. In 1961, marries Marta Grīnšteina. Immediately after the wedding, he moves to USA, where he studies for a year and acquires a masters degree with the support of Ford Foundation. After studies, works at Precomprimido C.A., Venezuela's largest construction company.

In 1964, opens his own design office together with his father. Socially, he took part in Venezuela Latvian Foundation, and, for a time, South American Latvian Foundation, which he was the President of for two years.

For six years, he was a board member of the World Federation of Free Latvians, and has been the Latvian Freedom Fund representative in Venezuela since its conception. From 1992 to 1999, he was the Honorary Consul of the Republic on Latvia in Venezuela. On 23 March, 1999, Vītolu family returns to Latvia. Currently, Vilis Vītols actively works.

Marta Vītola

Born in Auce. In 1944, as a two-year-old leaves Latvia with her family. They spend three years in Fulda, Germany. In 1948, the family moves to Venezuela, where she finishes primary and secondary education in Spanish. In 1968, Marta Vītola graduates Central University of Venezuela with a dentistry degree. The family has raised five children: Kristīne, an architect, Laura, a civil engineer, Māra, a systems engineer, Vilis, a civil engineer, and Marta, a lawyer. Vilis and Marta received Masters degrees in USA. All children are married, with families. Marta Vītola has dedicated her life to her family. She is a wonderful mother and grandmother.
